The primary function of the Student Council is to participate in the formulation of school polices, identify problems which affect student welfare, serve as official host and hostesses at school functions, plan and preside over assemblies, coordinate homecoming festivities, identify community needs and sponsor projects for charities, and review all fund raising projects.
The Student Council recently completed an outdoor eating pavilion for students. The eating area was built in honor of Dr. James H. Gentry, one of our school’s founding fathers. The Student Council will dedicate this facility during homecoming week. An ongoing project sponsored by the Student Council is the Adopt-A-Soldier Project. The project sponsors packages sent to Pickens Academy alumni soldiers. In the past we have sent monthly packages to James McBride, Jody McCrary, Josh Wheatly and currently we support Bob Somerville.
